It would save a lot of time and clicks if changing the task status was possible in the task overview screen.
A simple dropdown selection would do. -

Agree 100% on this front. We have plans to tune the task updating mechanism quite a bit so that changing due dates, status, severity, etc. can be knocked out quicker as well as updating multiple tasks at once.
