Patagonia and Google go Solar

Jennifer Payne | March 26th, 2007 | ,

Patagonia: Patagonia decided to take the plunge and added 360 panels to its parking lot. It’s expected to produce about 12% of their needs at the Great Pacific Ironworks building. 12% isn’t much, but when you consider Patagonia already buys 50% of its power from wind energy… it is a remarkable difference. Good job guys.

Google: Google’s Mountain View headquarters are getting a 1.6 megawatt system. Most will be installed over parking lots but others will be on buildings and raw land. It is said to generate enough power to feed 30% of that structures needs, or the equivalent of 1000 homes (or roughly 30 homes Al Gore size)
